Bali is known for its breathtaking beauty and charming culture, incredibly talented artists and craftsman; which is exactly why we chose this beautiful island to have our pieces manufactured in.
All of our jewellery pieces our made from 925 sterling silver and 14ct gold vermeil by the finest and most skilful craftsman in Bali. So, of course we organised to have our first ever photoshoot in Ubud. It was an amazing experience to see our vision come to life, but let us tell you, there were a few road bumps along the way!
Come along for the ride as we give you an exclusive peek at what went on behind the scenes of our photoshoot for the launch of our brand.
In order to pull this whole thing off - we had to go through more than a few hurdles…
First of all, we had originally organised a cute little vintage Suzuki 4x4 with no roof to hire for the photoshoot. I use that term loosely though, we kind of just found the car parked on the side of the road one day, thought it was super cute and exactly what we needed, so asked the owner if we could hire it (with the help of Google translate of course).
Well, when it came down to confirming with the owner of the car, he basically ghosted us and when we went to the shop where it was parked, the worker there told us we couldn’t use it anymore as it hadn’t been serviced - and this was TWO DAYS before the shoot was organised for.
Did we mention that we had organised the shoot for two days before we flew back to Australia - so when we say we were stressed, we were STRESSED!
So with a lot of messaging a lot of different car hire companies, we found a replacement - which actually ended up working way better than the other car we originally had planned.
Our team for the day consisted of us the founders (Lilly & Nat), our two models (Jade & Lucas), our photographer and his assistant (@davesee.pic) and our videographers (@flowcreative.ph). We arrived at the venue with the stunning backdrop of palm trees, lush greenery and the overall vibe of just being in the jungle in Bali.
As it was our first shoot we were super nervous, but the whole team were incredible. We actually scouted our models off of instagram as we wanted a specific look for our campaign that really represented our brand and what we are about. We wanted them to be ‘real’ people and turns out they actually knew each other, so they worked amazingly together!
We shot the whole campaign in just a few hours, stopping every so often to let the locals pass on their scooters.
As the shoot wrapped up, we headed back to Sanur and celebrated with a sneaky Amaretto Sour (our fav cocktail) and reflected on how the day had gone.
The end result was exactly what we had envisioned and the photographer and videographer team nailed it!
We hope this insider’s look at what went on to make our first campaign for our launch come to life has allowed you to get to know as a little better and what our brand and jewellery really represents.
